Transportation

Our preferred airport is Sea-Tac International. The trip to downtown Seattle from Sea-Tac is about 25 to 30 minutes. While we'd love to greet each of you at the airport, we expect that weekend to be very busy. Try one of these instead!

  • Uber -- On demand black car service from the airport to your hotel. Very easy to use from your smartphone ,but the most expensive option.
  • Yellow Cab Taxis -- Traditional taxi service from the airport to your hotel. Slightly less expensive and usually waiting at the airport on the third floor pickup zone at Sea-Tac.
  • Downtown Airporter by Shuttle Express -- Inexpensive shuttle service from the airport to many hotels downtown. They recommend booking your spot in advance.
  • Sound Transit Light Rail -- The light rail has a train line from the airport to downtown that takes roughly 35 minutes. It is very easy and inexpensive. Just be prepared to navigate public transit and crowds.

Things to do

We have lived in Seattle for more than six years. We've tried and tested every touristy activity at least once (in many cases twice). Here are our top five recommendations of things to do while you are in Seattle.

OUR WEDDING -- Don't tell me you didn't see that coming! But really, now. Here are our top five must sees.

  1. PIKE PLACE MARKET -- The Market is a fun open air market with everything from flying fish, fresh fruits, veggies, and flowers to handmade belts and bags, artsy tees and fancy soap. It is always busy, but worth the trip. Looking for a pop culture reference? Tom Hanks had lunch at the Athenian here in Sleepless in Seattle.
  2. SPACE NEEDLE -- You can't come to Seattle and not see the Space Needle. Be sure to take the monorail from Westlake Mall to get there to have the full World's Fair treatment. The spinning restaurant at top is a little pricey, but a fun retro-space-age experience!
  3. EMP MUSEUM -- The EMP is a funky building (inspired by a broken and shattered guitar) full of Seattle pop culture, music and science fiction. It is located directly under the Space Needle so make a day of it!
  4. UNDERGROUND TOUR -- Seattle was raised "street-level" by more than one-story after it was completely wiped out by a fire in 1889. Tour some of the original store fronts and get a glimpse into Seattle's (recent) past. For those of you over 21, take the Underworld version for the raunchy, seedy side of Seattle's past.
  5. RIDE THE DUCKS -- A loud and obnoxious way to tour Seattle by land and sea. All of our Seattle fun facts came from this tour, seriously!
